How Does Kingstone Answer “Why Comics?”

Bringing back an old feature from the days of the By Rao! website, the following is offered for discussion and scrutiny:

Christian-based comics publisher and multimedia company Kingstone gives their answer, in video form, to “Why Comics?”

Rao want to know: What does this explanation/ad say to audiences? Moreover, why were these visuals selected to constitute their ad? Who is the intended audience?

  1. Fascinating! The presence of so many black and brown children at the beginning might *suggest* to some that they are the audience, but the text and narrative suggest they are the object of mission rather than a buyer/reader. I would assume an intended audience of largely white Evangelical Protestants with a need to interest tweens. I’m also interested in what to make of this Kingstone video: https://youtu.be/L3YdtYfOx5g

There’s a moment when the torpedo metaphor really starts to break down. But, they list the particular people they want reading— bikers make the list!
